Horizon (2018)

In Horizon, Curtiss investigates multiculturalism in Toronto, and the effect it has on society and our interactions with one another. Curtiss' frames see through the experience of a bi-racial man living in a constant duality. The confusion spawned from his cultural combination has lead Curtiss to investigate notions of otherness through self- identity. In Curtiss' first production Horizon, he aims to shed light on subtle moments of common micro-aggressions minorities face daily. In Horizon, Curtiss considers the idea of a gas station as a democratic space where one is forced to interact with strangers of all socio- economic backgrounds in close quarters. One moment in time is depicted from four vantage points to create a momentary ecosystem of interactions.
